Chihuahua Pride Day 2011

Saturday, February 12th, 2011 will be the day in the sun for Chihuahuas and Chihuahua mixes at the Pacific Grove Community Center, 515 Junipero Avenue for the 1st Annual Chihuahua Pride Day. Event will take place from 1PM to 4PM.

The day will include training tips for small dogs and a dog agility course, pet photographer, a groomer providing pedicures and questions with the veterinarian. A costume contest will be held at 3pm with categories for Best in Show, Best Duo, and Funniest Dog.

Chihuahua Pride Day aims to raise awareness and celebrate these wonderful and often misunderstood pint-sized companions. Proceeds benefit "The Lucky Fund," established to battle overpopulation through spay/neuter and education. Lots of Chihuahuas from AFRP, POMDR, SPCA, Salinas Animal Services and Monterey County Animal Services will be available for loving homes. 

Friendly dogs under 25 pounds (sorry BIG guys) are welcome at the event and must be on a leash.

I will not be at the event due to being out of town....BUT, I have donated two $100.00 gift certificates for a private photo shoot on Carmel Beach and an 8" x 10" portrait.

Another Beautiful Day at Carmel Beach Not to be Missed!

Nothing like having today hit the low 60s....and to make things even better, the forecast for this whole week is sunny and in the 60s. So, not only did I hit the beach today with my camera and "Rocky", my Red Doberman ... I plan to hit it a few more times this week.

It wasn't as busy as it was on Sunday, but there were still some great dogs playing on Carmel Beach.

I always love it when we run across another Doberman...I'm amazed at how many Red Dobies I've seen. But today we met Bogie, a nine month old Black Doberman. He was having the time of his life playing with not only Rocky, but also "Harpo" a Golden Retriever that had no problem sharing his frisbee and a Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy.

Wow another Today's Best Award (TBA) showed up in my email! I feel really honored as I have been with Zazzle for a couple of years now and have only recently been given this award...one last month and now today!

This photo was taken by me during Poodle Day 2010 in Carmel, CA., last October. This gorgeous Red poodle also won awards at this event! I put this on many products, but it's the three ring binder that they chose to show the photo on.

Beautiful Day at Carmel Beach with the Dogs

Took Rocky, our Red Doberman and my camera to Carmel Beach today after realizing what a beautiful day it was going to be. So welcomed after all the rain we've had. I wasn't the only one with this idea in mind. When we arrived and looked down onto the beach all we could see were happy dogs playing in the surf and on the sand.

I was lucky in that I ran into three different ladies that allowed me a little time to photograph their beautiful dogs.

The first was a gorgeous Saluki...his name I don't recall at the moment...so if the owner of this beautiful dog see this, please comment and remind me a bit about your dog and his name. I think you all will agree that this is one sleek and beautiful dog.

Next, I came upon what I thought was a Pomeranian puppy, but, this little girl named Princess Leia was about 8 years old (I believe that's what her owner told me). The way she was running around and enjoying herself you would have thought she was under a year!

And then I met Bogey....who could miss Bogey...a huge 9 month old Harlequin Great Dane! I took quite a few photographs of Bogey when he finally gave me the look saying "Enough, I want to go play"!
